When you’re planning a baby shower you have to think about food, decorations, gifts, guest lists and more. Sometimes you can create one that serves as another. An example of that is the decorations you use for the shower. Did you know they can also become nice gifts for the baby and new mom? If you think of things the mom might need, and the baby can use, you’ve got decorations!
Use burp cloths, or cloth diapers Mom can use as burp cloths, as the place mats at the table. Use double-sided tape to attach a small rattle or other toy to one top corner of each cloth. Make a tablecloth by laying a flat crib sheet on the table. Take the fitted sheet and twist it then form it into a circle. Pin the ends together and set it in the center of the table. Set a stuffed animal in the center and some small things around it, like rattles, beanie babies and other tiny toys.
Make a different centerpiece by purchasing a stuffed animal that will sit up on its own. The toy you choose should be the approximate size of a baby. Dress the baby in a diaper, an outfit, shoes or booties, a cap or bonnet, and accessories. Use a ribbon to tie a bottle to its hand, set a smaller stuffed animal in its lap – there are many different ways to make this centerpiece that’s full of baby gifts.
Use a strand of Christmas lights to go around the perimeter of the table. Tape it, here and there, to hold the lights in place. Before adding each piece of tape, slide a toy on the strand, in that area. Skip a space then slide on another toy. Do this until you have several things hanging from the table. Hang booties that are hooked together, t-shirts, rattles, teething rings, pacifiers and similar things.
Make napkin rings for the table by using assorted rattles, pacifiers, teething rings, hair accessories or even large diaper pins. Simply slide the napkins through the object then position the object on top of the napkin.
String a small clothesline across the baby shower room and use it to hang assorted baby items. Diapers, onesies, t-shirts, booties and similar objects can be hung with clothes pins. The decoration instantly gives the room a baby shower theme and makes a selection of gifts for Mom and baby.
When you make the decorations be the gifts at a baby shower you’ll not only have a lovely setting but you’ll have tons of presents to give the new mom. She and the baby will love all the new stuff. In fact, most small baby items cost less than actual baby shower decorations! It’s a fun decorating scheme that’s easy to accomplish.
