You’ve got enough to do trying to get all the baby shower preparations finished. Between decorating, planning the games and shopping for presents you probably haven’t even had time to think about the party favors for the guests. You can’t send them home with nothing, that’s for sure! Grab some paper; it’ll be perfect for making the party favors. Think paper isn’t a really fabulous gift? It will be when you get finished with it!
Start with a regular size or long envelope. Take it apart and lay it out flat to get a pattern for some new envelopes. Trace around the envelope onto baby-theme scrapbook paper or thick gift wrap. Cut as many as you need for the amount of guests that will be at the shower.
Glue or tape the new envelopes in the form of the original one. Now fill the envelope with anything that’s somewhat flat. Fill them with dry potpourri, a poem, cinnamon sticks, gift cards or even candy. Tie raffia or a pretty ribbon around one end of the envelope to finish the party favor.
Make a different envelope baby shower favor by using scrapbook paper to make a pouch envelope. Cut the paper in half, lengthways, then fold each section in half. Glue or tape down the sides of the pouch. You have several choices for making the closure for the envelope.
If you want, poke two holes near the top of the envelope, both on the same side, leaving a small space between them. Thread several pieces of raffia or a narrow ribbon through the holes. Use these to tie the envelope closed. Another method is to simply wrap ribbon or raffia around the top of the envelope and tie it. You’ll find this easier to do if you first gather the top of the paper in your hand and squish it.
You can make the above envelope hold things that aren’t flat by first folding the paper in half, opening it back up, then folding each half in half, lengthways. This puts a crease down the front and back of the envelope to make it more dimensional rather than flat.
The envelope party favors are great for other occasions, too. Make them for wedding showers, birthday parties and even make holiday-theme envelopes. With the many choices for decorative paper at a craft store there is no end to the different themes you can do!
