If you’ve been asked to be the maid of honor or a bridesmaid at a friend or loved one’s wedding, you’ll most likely have the responsibility of planning the bride’s bachelorette party. When you’re deciding on decorations, it’s important to incorporate the bride-to-be’s personality and tastes into the decor-while including some of the “traditional” elements of a bachelorette celebration into the decorations as well.
If you’re decorating a bachelorette party for a guest of honor who is outgoing and not easily embarrassed, it’s perfectly fine to adorn the celebration with sexy decor such as lingerie wall hangings or tablecloths with lace coverings. Feather boas can be wrapped around each of the chairs. Take a few pictures of negligees or garters that can be used as centerpieces for each of the tables. As party favors, you can fill small plastic stilettos with “racy” gifts such as massage oil or chocolate-covered strawberries so that each woman at the party can take part of the decorations home with her to create a romantic night of her own.
Decorate the party in the bride-to-be’s favorite colors by selecting tablecloths, centerpieces, streamers and balloons that match. You can create a monochromatic look for the party by selecting decorations in different shades of the same color. For instance, if the bride’s favorite color is yellow, organize a bright, sunny bachelorette party by using pastel yellow tablecloths paired with bright yellow tulip centerpieces and yellow Mylar balloons in the shape of wedding cakes, or lingerie pieces in a shade of yellow that isn’t too overwhelming. You can even ask the guests to be part of the decorations by wearing something yellow to the party so that the pictures from the celebration will have a definite theme.
Another way to make the party extra special is to decorate the bachelorette celebration with elements that represent the bride-to-be’s personality. For instance, if she loves cats, use small “kitten heel” replicas with fur accents as table centerpieces, or place a group of headbands adorned with cat ears in the middle of the table to serve as the centerpiece-until guests pick them up to wear during the party. You can also adorn the table where the food and cake will be served with cat-shaped confetti. Present the guest of honor with a cat-shaped cake, and send everyone home with small stuffed cats wearing satin bow ties in the colors that the bride has selected for her wedding decorations.
