When it comes to traditional holiday feasts, be it Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter, baked ham is one dish that remains popular amongst the young and old. And it’s the glaze or sauce that enhances the flavors of the ham, adding that distinct scrumptious taste.
There is one particular variation of the topping that is especially savory. It’s an exotic fruity blend of strawberry guava and pineapple. This tropical combination will continue to be our family’s all-time favorite choice.
Recipe for Baked Ham Topping
1 cup strawberry-guava jam
2 cans (tuna-can sized) crushed pineapple (including it’s natural juice)
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1¼ cups ketchup
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon cornstarch (blended with 1 tablespoon water)
Combine all ingredients (except the cornstarch mixture as that will be added before serving, to thicken the sauce). Pour into a pot and bring it to boil. Then turn the heat down and simmer for about 10 minutes (stirring constantly). Thicken with cornstarch/water right before serving.
Top the baked, sliced ham with this yummy glaze. Enjoy!
