It’s O.K. to watch baseball now that the post season is starting. This is the only time that most people can enjoy baseball anymore because at times baseball is like watching paint dry.
Many people argue that baseball is boring and they can’t stand to watch it longer than a few innings.
While other sports have evolved and improved, baseball is one of those sports that refuses to improve itself and continues to use it’s history as a crutch.
Let’s be honest…steroids ruined baseball as we know it. The excitement that Mark Mcguire and Sammy Sosa brought back to baseball was ruined by the alleged steroid use of star players of that generation.
Baseball has been put aside for the NFL and for good reason.
The baseball season is irrelevant as the 162 game schedule is too much.
95% of teams are already out of the playoff race and are selling every player they have before the trade deadline. For those that are not die hard fans of a certain team, the season is all but over at that point.
We have known who is going to be in the playoffs for months now. Did we really care who won the AL East when we knew the Yankees and Rays would both be in the playoffs?
At the same time how can you play 162 games and it still comes down to the last game for the Padres and Giants? Someone explain this!
To young kids they are watching sports like basketball, football, and even hockey where players are constantly moving. In baseball everyone is active around 25% of the time which causes the mind to think that nothing is happening.
That said, there is much more to baseball than a bunch of guys waiting for a man with a bat to hit a ball.
Baseball is one of the more strategic sports which once you understand all the options it can become interesting. Situations like the order of the batter, when to bring in that pitcher, stats against a left hand hitter, number of pitches thrown, and when to hit and run can keep those who look deeper into the game interested.
There just aren’t that many people interested in looking that deep into a game of baseball when they can concentrate on football which surrounds them on a nightly basis.
Baseball used to be America and apple pie now football and pigskin has taken over.
