I regularly highlight my hair blonde with chocolate brown lowlights. However, I generally do not use shampoos and conditioners which are designed for color. When I highlighted my hair over the summer, I immediately began to notice that the bleach quickly turned orange and brass. Since I have a slight emotional attachment to having some blonde hair at all times, the need to use shampoos and conditioners for color treated hair became clear. I decided to try products from the Joico line, as I love their Moisture Recovery shampoo and conditioner. Here’s what I think about these products.
Shampooing and Conditioning
I wasn’t sure if the Joico Color Endure line would be as good as their Moisture Recovery line, but I found them to be just as good. My naturally dry hair stays hydrated and soft when I use Joico products. I do not notice any buildup with regular use, which is important for me because I have psoriasis and am prone to dandruff when I use the wrong products. I also have noticed that it tends to look shinier. Since I began regularly using Joico products, my hairstylist said that she has noticed a major improvement in the overall health of my hair.
From the very first time I washed my hair after getting it highlighted and dyed again, I immediately began to notice the results. I usually notice that the color fades after the first wash, but after using Joico Color Endure shampoo and conditioner, there was no change in color. Would it continue to work though?
By the second week after my hair has been dyed, I am usually disappointed by the change in color. The pale blonde highlights tend to take on a shade of golden yellow, or what my sister likes to refer to as “tuba” color. After using the Joico Color Endure shampoo and conditioner for two weeks, I still noticed no change in the color of my hair. Not only have the highlights maintained their color, but the lowlights have stayed a rich shade of chocolate brown instead of changing to a somewhat lighter shade.
Price and Availability
Joico hair products are sold at select salons. It is easier to find them online. I always purchase Joico hair care products at Drugstore.com. I paid $13.95 for each bottle of Joico Color Endure shampoo and conditioner. Some may find this pricey. For high-end hair products, however, this price is not bad at all in comparison to other products on the market.
Overall, I give Joico Color Endurance 4.5 out of 5 stars. Not only does it keep my hair beautiful and healthy, but it helps maintain the color wonderfully. I highly recommend it to anyone with dyed or highlighted hair. The only downfall is the price of the shampoos and conditioners in the Joico line.
