Alamo Square’s annual flea market was a successful community event for the twenty seventh year in a row. Onlookers recently made online comments teasing the community of spreading bed bugs. It wouldn’t be false advertising if there were bed bugs there because it was in fact called a “Flea” Market.
Perhaps a better name would be Alamo Square Variety Market. However, 2010 was the 27th year of the Annual Flea Market for Alamo Square. Naturally, they will not be changing the name anytime soon. Perhaps, instead, this bedbug teasing is a reference to the Waldorf Astoria’s recent accusations of bed bugs. After all, with Painted Ladies listed at under $4 million earlier this year, we can compare Alamo Square to the Waldorf Astoria easily.
Alamo Square is well known for it is 7 figure homes. Therefore, many of the buyers were looking forward to flea market deals on interesting and high quality items. Of course, residents from the neighborhood got a chance to talk to the North of Panhandle Association who were selling a clever t-shirt to promote the organization.
In addition to encouraging community interaction, the NOPA requests citizens to get involved and get informed about Alamo Square events.
