BEER BATTER BREAD
Do you like home made bread but hate the labor that must go into making it? This is an easy and versatile recipe for bread. No kneading is required, nor does it have to sit and rise. This bread takes minutes to prepare and about an hour to bake. Then, voila, you have home made bread.
The basic ingredients are 1 12-ounce beer and 2 and 2/3’s cup of self rising flour. You can add to taste salt and sugar. For best results add 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix in a non-metal bowl with non-metal utensil. The dough will be sticky. Wooden utensils are recommended and a wooden or plastic bowl is used for mixing the dough. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9 X 5 bread pan with non-stick spray and spread the dough in the bread pan. You can use the wooden utensil to even out the dough. Bake the bread at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.
The beauty of this recipe is its versatility. If you want a garlic-onion bread simply add those ingredients to taste while mixing the dough. However, if you prefer a sweet bread that is possible too. You can add sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and even fruit, such as blueberries to the dough. This recipe invites experimentation. You can make just about any kind of bread you can imagine.
