One of the great things about coming to Bernal Heights is the sense of community. Maybe it is because the community is small, or maybe it is because Bernal Heights is bounded by hills and large streets. Yesterday, I was at Bernal Heights, around the library and Neighborhood Center on Cortland, and there were many people out talking to one another about the election and this and that. That is nice to see, especially coming from a more transient part of town.
One of the programs in the community is Bernal Bucks. You receive stickers for donations to the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center or library. Then you place the stickers on your dollars. There are about a dozen and a half stores offering discounts on your stickered dollars. I saw the flyer in a couple of windows for Bernal Bucks, but you can see them on the website http://bernalbucks.org.
