Hanoi, Vietnam is one of the top tourist destinations in south east Asia. A beautiful town built on a river and around a lake, Hanoi is not only home to old temples, museums, world-class restaurants and cafes but, in the last few years, has seen the opening of many small boutique hotels. For those who dislike staying in large, impersonal chain hotels, one of these top three Hanoi boutique hotels is a must stay, as they offer personalized care, inexpensive accommodation and fantastic locations.
Anise Hotel – This lovely 3-star boutique hotel is situated right on the doorstep of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, close to boutiques, art galleries, cute cafes and elegant restaurants. It’s also only a five minute walk from the Anise Hotel to Hoan Kiem Lake.
The hotel has a welcoming reception area, complete with friendly staff, is decorated in a contemporary Asian style, and is exceptionally clean and well-taken care of.
Each of the 42 guest rooms has individually controlled air-conditioning, coffee and tea making facilities, in room Wi-Fi internet, an in room safe, mini bar and TV with satellite. The Standard level rooms do not have windows but in Hanoi, which is an incredibly loud city, this can actually be a good thing as it cuts down on the street noise and you’ll get a good night’s sleep.
The Hotel Anise has a lovely restaurant and bar, located on the 11th floor and with views all around Hanoi. Don’t miss using the hotel’s fitness center too and, if you’re in Hanoi on business, there’s even a fully-equipped business center.
The Hotel Anise is located at 22 Quan Thanh Street, Hanoi.
Hong Ngoc 1 Hotel – The Hong Ngoc 1 Hotel is part of a small chain of boutique hotels in Hanoi. The Hong Ngoc 1 is located in the Old Quarter of Hanoi, close to the major shopping areas of the city, as well as near hundreds of restaurants, cafes and bars.
At the Hong Ngoc 1, each guest room features Oriental-style furnishings with a modern twist. Every room has en suite bath, air conditioning, television with satellite, coffee and tea making facilities and in-room Wi-Fi.
The hotel has a small, cozy bar and a nice restaurant that serves both Vietnamese and International cuisine. The nightly room rate also includes complimentary breakfast.
If you’re in Hanoi on business, take advantage of the Hong Ngoc 1’s business center, where you can get things photocopied and printed, use computers and the internet, and have documents or packages couriered or delivered.
The Hong Ngoc 1 Hotel is situated at 39 Hàng Bạc, Hanoi.
Church Hotel – Every time I’ve stayed in Hanoi, I’ve stayed at the boutique Church Hotel. Owned by a westerner and his Vietnamese wife, the hotel offers the perfect mix of Eastern hospitality and Western facilities, and is beautifully decorated with hardwood floors and elegant cream and brown guest rooms. Check out the artwork displayed in all the hotel’s corridors too.
Located right in the middle of Hanoi on Church Street, the city’s most ‘hip street’, stepping out of the hotel’s front door you’ll see cute independent coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques and art galleries – a perfect location for shopping and dining. The hotel staff is lovely and very helpful, so if you need any recommendations for places to eat, they’ll be happy to oblige.
The Church Hotel is a quiet hotel with guest rooms featuring hardwood floors and marble bathrooms, satellite TV, en suite bath with bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, an in-room safe and Wi-Fi internet.
The hotel has a small restaurant that serves a basic Vietnamese breakfast, which is included in the room rate.
You’ll find the Church Hotel at No. 9 Nha Tho Sreet (Church Street), Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
