Here is a small list of National parks with the best trails and locations. Of course, there are many, many more.
North-South Lake loop- This trail is located in Catskill, NY. Travel the mountain loop and wooden out-skirts of this hike. There are special attractions that come a long with the beautiful nature you will encounter. Hotel sites, waterfalls, and vistas are among the few things you will come across while hiking this trail.
Little Grand Canyon Trail- Located in Murphysboro, IL. This is a perfect hide-away and worth the travel to get here. There are steep, stone cut steps and slick-rock chutes that will take you down to a bottom-land, surrounded by a 300 foot cliff. There is a clear view of the Mississippi River and the Missouri Hills. The Little Grand Canyon is far from little. Most canyons on this trail drop close to 350 feet.
Glacier Gore- The greatest trail in the Rocky Mountains National Park. Filled with scenery, waterfalls, and wildflowers. This trail is located in Estes Park, Colorado. This is also a great place for fishing. There a few alpine lakes located in the park as well.
Dolly Sods Wilderness- Located in Petersburg, WV. This trail has basically everything a hiker loves. Rocky vistas, glades, and northern hardwood forests are few of the many things to see while on this trail. While hiking, you will come across the Red Creek Canyon and Breathed Mountain. These locations are field with beautiful scenery.
Mount Whitney- Located in Lone Pine, California. Walking this trail will take you to the highest peak in the United States. It is reported that this trail is difficult to hike, but worth it. Like any other trail, Mount Whitney is filled with beautiful scenery, vistas, and steep, stone steps. It is a 22 mile hike.
Mount Mitchell- Located in Asheville, NC. Mt. Mitchell is the highest peak in the Mississippi. This trail is a park of North Carolina’s first state park. It is a 12 mile hike and consists of trees, green, and great scenery. There are plenty of hiking options for you to take while on the trail.
Four Peaks Mine- Located in Phoenix, AZ. This park is very popular for it’s mountains and several hiking trails. Not only can you hike, but you can make camp out in this area. Also, ATVs and dirt bikes are aloud of trails and mountains. If you go to this trail during late fall, you might get lucky with a few drops of snow. If you are a summer person and would rather go in the heat, make sure you are hydrated and have plenty of water.
Eagle Rock Loop- Located in Glenwood, AR. Considered to be the best trail in the state. This trail is popular with the out-of-state hikers and locals of Arkansas. In the park there are bits and pieces of Missouri and Athens-Big Fork trails. In the recreation are of the park, there are campgrounds and showers, each costing around $10.00. The hike is around 28 miles long and is open year-round.
Cross Timbers Trail- Located in Dallas, TX. It is always a great idea to take an over-night trip when visiting this trail. There is a lake and beautiful scenery. Also, you can camp out in this area, but a permit is required. This hike is estimated around 18 miles long.
Ocala National Forest- Located in Ocala, FL, north of Orlando. The forest is 360,000 acres and is east of the Mississippi River. Has the largest stand of sand pine in the U.S. This 75 mile hike goes through rolling hills and small mountains. National Forest is also huge for it’s water sources, containing over 600 lakes and rivers. Visitors are allowed to fish and swim. It is always best to go during late fall or spring.
