Halloween in Nashville is an exceptional place for kids to celebrate and join in haunted activities in a safe fun environment. If you live in or will happen to be in the area with your family check out these ghostly spots. May you and your costume-clad gaggle have a frightfully fun Halloween.
Cheekwood Scarecrow Exhibit
This isn’t a haunted house per say, it is a kid friendly haunted walk. In September through early November patrons can visit the Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art and experience a dazzling display of Scarecrows. The Scarecrows in the exhibit are created by locals, businesses as well as a handful of Cheekwood’s staff. The straw men are spread around the gardens along the path. Some are silly some are down right weird, guaranteed your little ones will be tickled. Check out their website for times and pricing.
Costumed Story tellers will walk you through the dark, dank museum. You and your little witch or wizard will feel the hair on the back of your neck stand on end, listening to ghost tales along the way. It is a mixture of fun and education. You will hear about the spirits that walk the halls every night and why they refuse to leave the haunted museum. Many swear they have seen spirit or even felt the cold hand of someone touching their back;only to turn around and see nothing there. There are activities like miniature pumpkin decorating and face painting. It is a one day event, and the best part is that it is absolutely free.
Ghouls at Grassmere
Ghouls at Grassmere is brought to you by the Nashville Zoo and is the most goofy fun to have during the Halloween season. The whole extravaganza caters to children twelve and under. There are so many different activities you will have to visit the Zoo more than once. Trick or Treat trail is where you will start off your adventure that will lead you into the “Monster Lab” where you can catch a performance at the “Monsterpiece” Theater. There is also a costume parade and a chilling hay ride. The most unique part is the fact that you are in a zoo. Not only do you get to participate in the festivities of all hallows eve, you get to enjoy the splendid creatures of nature all around.
