Mong Kok in Hong Kong is famous for being the world’s most densely populated area. It’s stuffed with shops, street markets, restaurants and cafes, and has some of the best yet most affordable hotels in Hong Kong. Mong Kok is not only a wonderful place to stay for tourists, business travelers will love it too for its affordability and convenience. If you’re planning on staying in Mong Kok when you visit Hong Kong, consider these three best Mong Kok hotels. You won’t be disappointed.
Metropark Hotel Mong Kok – The last time I visited Hong Kong, I stayed at the Metropark Hotel Mong Kok. Chosen by the friend who traveled with me, I was dubious about the hotel due to its low price but, upon arrival, couldn’t have been happier.
The Metropark Hotel Mong Kok is in a perfect location. Just around the corner from an MTR train station, and slap bang in the middle of Mong Kok’s many shopping and dining districts, it’s within walking distance of so much and only a couple of minutes on the train to the Star Ferry to see the rest of Hong Kong.
Rooms are small but nicely turned out. Each room includes an en suite bath, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, cable TV and Wi-Fi internet (you have to purchase a card to use it, but the rate is reasonable).
The hotel has a restaurant, a cafe, a bar and a cake shop, so every angle is covered. The restaurant, the Lychee Garden, serves authentic Chinese food and, when we were there, had buffet specials on several evenings. The Cafe Concourse coffee shop is a good place for coffee and snacks, and don’t miss grabbing a pastry at the Metropark Corner Cake Shop.
The Metropark Hotel Mong Kok is at 22 Lai Chi Kok Road, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Stanford Hotel – Another wonderful Mong Kok hotel is the Stanford hotel. Perfectly located just a couple of minutes walk to an MTR train station as well as to the Kowloon-Canton Railway Station, not only can you get around Hong Kong easily from here, you can also travel to Mainland China by rail.
The hotel’s 200 guest rooms have air conditioning, Wi-Fi internet, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, mini bar, cable TV and a fridge.
The Stanford Hotel’s Stanford Cafe is a lovely place for a meal with lunch, brunch and supper buffets featuring an array of superb food and at reasonable prices. The hotel also has a lobby bar, a great place for a drink after a long day shopping.
The Stanford Hotel is situated at 118 Soy Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Harbour Hotel – Not actually that close to the harbour in Mong Kok, the Harbour Hotel is still in a great location, close to shopping districts like Langham Place, near the famous Ladies Market street market as well as to massive amounts of shops, cafes and restaurants.
The hotel is a small hotel, with only 40 guest rooms, which means you get a lot of individual service. Guest rooms feature en suite bath, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi internet, hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a complimentary daily newspaper.
The Harbour Hotel has a small restaurant serving both Chinese and International fare, and breakfast is included in the room rate. There’s also a small business center, a conference area and meeting rooms, if you’re staying in Mong Kok on business and want to meet with clients at the hotel.
You’ll find the Harbour Hotel located at No. 968 Canton Rd., Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
