While I’m not a particular fan of Singapore, I do enjoy the abundant nightlife there. Known for its eateries, pubs, clubs and live music, Singapore is one of the best places to enjoy an evening out and these are the best restaurants, bars and nightclubs to try.
Oosh – One of the first places to head on an evening out on the town in Singapore is Oosh. Both a bar and restaurant, Oosh attracts the well-heeled and the well-traveled, but it’s not stuffy or boring. In fact it’s lovely. There are five different eating and drinking areas, they serve bar food as well as dinner and, most nights, there’s a good happy hour with two for one drinks and specials. You must try the barbeque pork ribs and the beer battered fish with a spicy sauce is incredible. Or, if you want a full sit-down dinner, hit the second floor where you can dine inside or outside on the roof. The Thai gai pizza (chicken) is wonderful and the rack of lamb is to die for. Oosh is located at 22 Dempsey Road, Singapore.
Peranakan Place – Peranakan Place is a small complex that has three areas where you can enjoy drinks, snacks and dinner and all are unique in their style.
Acid Bar is in an old converted Chinese-style shophouse and features live blues and jazz music. Drinks are great and the atmosphere is fun.
Alley Baris another amazing space, dark, earthy and exotic, Alley Bar has acid jazz and funk music and is famous for its margaritas and excellent pizzas.
Or try the Outdoors Cafe and Bar, slap bang on Orchard Road, Singapore’s famous shopping street, you can dine al fresco with mellow music playing in the background and some of the best seafood in Singapore being served to your table. Peranakan Place is at 180 Orchard Road, Singapore.
Chijmes – Chijmes is absolutely incredible. It’s an old converted convent, and one of the most beautiful buildings in Singapore. But now, it’s a bar, restaurant and club complex with some of the coolest places in Singapore.
Check out Bobby’s Taproom Grill and Ribs for great beer and steaks, and a fun sports bar experience. Or try Insomnia, which is a bar and restaurant with excellent Asian and Western cuisine and live music that goes on into the wee hours. Supperclub is also a fun experience as you can enjoy a superb, if not slightly expensive, dinner, while lying on full-sized beds – perfect after a hard day shopping on Orchard Road.
You’ll find all these places plus more than 20 other bars, clubs and restaurants all at Chijmes at 30 Victoria Street, Singapore.
Stereolounge – Finally, if you want to enjoy yet more Singapore nightlife and you haven’t had your fill of live music, then Stereolounge is a must. It’s at the Pan Pacific Hotel and here you can listen to live bands from all over the region in a relaxed environment, or go for the more sophisticated fare in the main room where celebrity DJs from as far away as Europe and the US spin some of the best house music in Singapore. You’ll find Stereolounge at the Pan Pacific at 6 Raffles Boulevard.
