If you’re feeling like Italian food, but don’t want to hit those big chain restaurants, here are some ideas for you.
1. Anna’s Pizzeria, 719 Hawkins Ave., Lake Ronkonkoma. (631) 981-6909. This is a small business that focuses mainly on take-out, and the Italian food is really good. There are just a few tables in front if you wish to sit down here. Anna’s makes some of the best pizza for miles around. The cheese and spices are done just right, and so is the sauce. The plain pizza is terrific, but you can always ask for some of the many toppings offered. Besides pizza, try the eggplant, chicken and meatball dishes. You won’t be disappointed.
2. Nick and Gina’s, 519 Hawkins Ave., Lake Ronkonkoma. (631) 676-3840 Recently taken over by new management, this is a great, cozy neighborhood restaurant with good food and nice atmosphere.
