I have personally been in the market looking for green cleaning products for some time, keeping my eyes open as I find myself at different stores. Ecofriendly, green cleaning products have become more available in the last year. Previously, there was no such thing. All you had available to buy were the color-treated, chemical-laden cleaning products. Unfortunately, there are not very many local stores available to shop at, anymore. I live in the Mooresville/Camby, Indiana area, and have visited several places in Mooresville to find the best place to buy green cleaning products. All the stores available (around here) to purchase green cleaning products are large big-box type of stores.
The best place so far I have found is Lowe’s in Mooresville, Indiana. Lowe’s has a fairly large selection of ecofriendly and green cleaning products for your bathroom and kitchen, and green laundry products. A few of their green products are even labeled organic. Lowe’s price are reasonable and affordable, ranging from $3.27-12.00 per bottle. The bottles vary in size from 16 oz. up to 54 oz. Some are concentrated, and some are meant to be used right out of the bottle.
Lowe’s carries four major brands including Greenworks Natural, Nature’s Source, Method, and Simple Green Natural. I am really excited about Simple Green Natural. I love Simple Green’s regular concentrated cleaner, and am thrilled that they have a natural version. I will definitely be buying this when my regular Simple Green runs out. Another bonus is that Simple Green Natural is concentrated, so one bottle of it will last you a long time. I use Simple Green for nearly all my cleaning needs, just in various concentrations for whatever I need at the moment. (It will even clean the pet messes in my carpet and take out stains in my laundry.) Nature’s Source and Method seem to be the most affordable green products, falling in the $3-6 range, but neither were concentrated. Nature’s Source had more general multiple-use products, while Method had separate products for different uses. Greenworks is another green cleaning option, put out by Clorox. They seem to have a smaller line of green products, but is still an affordable, viable option in the $3-6 range.
Menards is the second best place to buy ecofriendly, green cleaning products. They have a much smaller selection than Lowe’s, however. Menards mainly carries Greenworks Natural and their own brand called Resolution, along with a green dishwasher detergent called Palmolive Eco. The Resolution brand is interesting because it is a fairly wide-ranging product line. It has glass cleaner, dish detergent, bathroom cleaner, laundry-stain remover, all-purpose cleaner, degreaser, and others. These are quite affordable, even cheap, at less than $2 for most of the Resolution brand green cleaners.
Green cleaning, ecofriendly products are the way to go. They are good for the environment, good for us, and now, affordable for the average person. They are also easy to find. So, next time you’re at your Lowe’s or Menards’ local store, stop by the cleaning aisle, and pick up some green cleaning products. You’ll be happy you did.
