If you are looking for a great kid-friendly restaurant in Austin to host a sports team party for your child and teammates, you aren’t alone. There are dozens of amazing restaurants in Austin and the surrounding area, but few seem quite right for bringing in a dozen or more kids for a casual get-together. You have to find an affordable restaurant that has room for not just all of the kids on the team, but their families, too. Plus, you likely are searching for a casual restaurant that will not just tolerate that many kids but will actually welcome you and your group. Whether your child plays football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, or something else, here are some great ideas for places to host your team party in the Austin area:
Red Robin. Red Robin is a wonderful restaurant for a kids’ sports team party. There are three locations in the Austin area to choose from, including in northwest Austin on 183, just south of Pflugerville in Interstate 35, and in south Austin in the Sunset Valley area. The menu may initially look a little pricey for a large group gathering, but when you take into account the fact that kids eat free at Red Robin, the menu looks a lot more affordable. Be sure to call ahead and reserve the party room for your group.
Gattiland. Pizza is the perfect food choice for kids, and especially for feeding a full team of kids! When you are considering a pizza place in the Austin area, there are dozens to choose from, but Gattiland is the cream of the crop as far as kids are concerned. The Gattiland in Round Rock is conveniently located just off of Interstate 35, and it features a large buffet, several party rooms, and a full arcade-style game room.
Waterloo Icehouse. Waterloo Icehouse is an Austin institution, and when you eat here, you will find a casual atmosphere that is kid-friendly, along with plenty of good music and a great selection of food options. The kids menu is full of affordable options that everyone on the team will love. Some Waterloo Icehouse locations are better than others for sports team events. For instance, the location at Avery Ranch in northwest Austin boasts a covered patio that can seat over 100 guests and is within eye shot of the outdoor playground, so kids can run back and forth to the playground freely. With eight locations in the Austin area, there is likely one close to you.
When you are looking for a location that can handle a large group like your child’s sports team and all of the team’s family members, you want to be sure to call ahead and make a reservation. If the restaurant you call initially says they don’t accept reservations, simply let them know that you are bringing in a very large group and chances are they will adjust their reservation policy and make a reservation for you.
