Podcasts can be very useful educational tools for anyone. With so many out there, it can be difficult to distinguish which ones are the best, and no one wants to waste time listening to something just to see if it is going to be good. These three educational podcasts are available on iTunes and they are definitely among the best podcasts for students.
Super Why! is made for younger children and is produced by PBS. This podcast teaches basic things like letters, spelling, and vocabulary for preschool children. It was designed to help students become good readers. In each episode, there are four main characters who direct students through a children’s book in order to solve a problem. They use different skills to find clues to the solution. The show’s interactive approach allows children to put their reasoning, literary, and social skills to the test. Check out the Super Why! website here for interactive educational games.
Coffee Break Spanish
Coffee Break Spanish is an excellent podcast for students, as well as anyone else, who may be trying to learn Spanish. The show is free on iTunes. The show breaks down Spanish in a way that is easy to follow. It features a teacher and a student who repeats the phrases. The podcast also gives time for the listeners to repeat along with the show. One thing that I really like about this podcast is that it teaches different ways to say the same phrase. Whereas in the United States we learn a lot of the ways that Mexican or South American people might say phrases, Coffee Break Spanish also teaches the ways that Spanish people say things. Students can also buy lesson plans on the Coffee Break Spanish website here.

Podcasts may not be the most popular educational tool among students, but one of the great things about them is that they can be downloaded and taken anywhere. They can be enjoyed on a long car ride or simply just in free time. The average student has a very busy schedule, so they can’t afford to waste any time.
