If one is in any way familiar with the San Juan and Roosevelt area of Jacksonville, then maybe they are familiar with JAG Dogs. JAG Dogs is an open air hot dog stand that is on the south end of the Roosevelt Square Shopping Center in Jacksonville, Florida. It serves its customers at very reasonable rates from a street cart.
They have the tastiest all beef hot dogs anywhere to be found on the First Coast. They are also incredibly reasonable on their prices. For less than $3.00 you can get an entire meal including hot dogs, chips and soda. They also offer any toppings you might want from coleslaw and chili to cheese and onions. They serve a veritable smorgasbord of flavors on the hot dog cart and all for very affordable rates.
As to the drinks, JAG Dogs offers a large variety to satisfy your thirst on a hot and steamy day. They offer Barq’s Root Beer, Chocolate Milk, Coke, Sprite, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper on a usual basis. They also offer an awesome fresh brewed sweet sun tea on some days. One of this writer’s favorites and a perennial favorite of Florida is their fresh squeezed Orange Juice. Needless to say they offer a large selection to quench your palate with.
One of the top favorites with customers is the $5.00 all you can eat hot dog buffet. They will have a small table set up and the usual operator, John, is happy to have you stop by and chat a little while fixing you some of the best hot dogs in town. John has been doing this for over ten years now and loves to just chat with people. John is a amicable character that likes to discuss everything under the sun from the weather to politics to any thing that seems interesting. The other day when this writer was visiting with him for this article he said that he does this now that he’s retired as an experiment in human psychology to see how people think.
While this writer doesn’t claim to be a psychologist, he can guarantee one that one will not be displeased eating at JAG Dogs. As a matter of fact one might catch the writer of this article there any day this coming week. One thing is for sure, like the chip commercials like to say, “You can’t eat just one.”
