Some people only enjoy red wines when the weather starts to get a chill in the air. There are plenty of white wines that will warm your fall fever and leave your taste buds satisfied. I am typically a red wine fan so I picked white wines for all to enjoy. Here is my guide to Best White Wines for Fall
5. Rhein River, Riesling
This is a bright flavorful white wine with a clean finish. This is a Rhine Valley bouquet with apricot and peach aromas with an added hint of orange blossom. This Riesling is best when paired with light fall dishes such as pork or shellfish dishes. My pairing is grilled BBQ Cajun Shrimp with a glass of this. Average cost per bottle is $12.
4. Hogue, Sauvignon Blanc
This Sauvignon Blanc also known as Fume Blanc has delicate fruitful blends of guava and peach with a hint of acidity. Intense aromas such as peppermint, grapefruit, and guava with a hint of smokiness make up this beautifully blended bouquet. This Sauvignon Blanc is best when paired with raw oysters or even chicken salad. The average price per bottle is $12.
3. Rodney Strong, Chardonnay
This Sonoma County produced wine has a light crisp taste. It is an extremely aromatic bouquet with aromas such as ripe pear and melon with a hint of citrus scents. This Chardonnay pairs well with a nice Smoked Fontina Cheese and Cracked Pepper Crackers. The average price per bottle is $12.
2. Ferrari & Perini, Pinot Grigio
A team of brothers produce this fruity, refreshing flavorful bouquet. Stephano and Massimo Perini are leading grape growers in northwestern Italy. This Pinot Grigio is fruitier than most Italian Pinot’s but also has a less oaky flavor. Since Pinot Grigio is a light crisp white wine it is best when paired with seafood, light pastas and cheese and cracker combos. A bottle of this bottled Italian delight is $12 per bottle.
1. Martin Codax, Albarino
I was introduced to this wine by my favorite local bartender. I always tell him to surprise me and this time I was more pleased than normal. This is a dry and crisp combination of peach, lemon zest, apricot, melon, and grapefruit. It has the perfect amount of citrus and fruit. Albarino is ideal when paired with seafood. I often enjoy this wine with my favorite dish at my favorite restaurant Cha Chah. The dish is a seafood dish that consists of Barramundi (which is a white fish) over mushroom pate and pea pure. The average price per bottle is $15.
