These are some of my favorite winter activities that happen in Las Vegas. They have become a tradition to do these every year.
The Magical Forest
At Opportunity Village located off of Torey Pines and Oakey Boulevard. There is plenty of parking and all proceeds go towards helping Opportunity Village. There is a train, carousel, Santa, the Magical Forest to walk through, other small games and rides, a gift shop and food too. They’ve added more rides and games this year compared to other years. They are open from 5:30pm starting on November 20th and they stay open until January 1st. They close at 9pm Sundays through Thursdays and at 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
There are general admission tickets that can be purchased online or passport tickets, which gives unlimited rides, which can also be purchased online. Adults are $9.75 and children are $7.75 for general admission. Adult passport tickets are $16.25 and child passport tickets are $14.25.
The Gift Of Lights
The Gift of Lights is located at Sunset Park, which is on Sunset and Eastern. This when the car drives through the park and there are light displays down both sides of the road that has been donated by different businesses in Las Vegas. All proceeds go towards different children’s organizations in Southern Nevada.
They are open Sunday through Thursday from 5pm to 9pm. Fridays and Saturdays they are open from 5pm to 10pm. On holidays they are open from 5pm to 10pm. They will be open starting November 20th and go until January 2nd, 2011. There is special pricing on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays is $10 when items are donated to any Goodwill location in Southern Nevada. The discount can be given at the Gift of Lights or coupons will be given at Goodwill donation and retail centers when donations are made. Other days of the week will receive $2 off when a donation is made. There is also a $2 discount for past and current military personnel with ID. Prices are $15 per car or $1 per person when coming in a bus/group, with a $15 minimum.
Ethel M Cactus Garden Lights
The Ethel M retail, manufacturing and cactus garden are located at 2 Cactus Garden Drive, Henderson, Nevada. They are open Sunday through Saturday from 8:30am to 6pm. The factory tour can be taken Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Every year they decorate their Cactus Garden with Christmas lights and displays. It is completely free to do the factory tour and to walk through the Cactus Garden as well.
Clark County Museum
The Clark County museum is located at 1830 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, Nevada. They are open Sunday through Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm. Adults are $1.50 to get in and children and seniors are $1. There is a group rate and tours available upon request. This has many small homes, businesses and trains that are historic and original from Nevada. The different building are decorated according to their time period and there is information and recordings in each that talk about the structure and significance of it. There is also a wedding chapel and old train depots too, as well as a farm house. At Christmas they decorate the inside of the homes and buildings for the holidays.
