This article is dedicated to my family, friends that have crossed my path through my life and my dearest friend I call The Fearless One.
Growing up with family members who try to show love and care for those in need has always been a strong encouragement to do good. Great grandparents and grandparents that loved their Savior has become one inspiration. A woman who lives to serve her Savior with her family inspires me and sustains me on a daily basis. With this, I will share with AC writers and readers some of my testimony and favorite Bible Scriptures.
I am someone that has battled low self esteem for a long time. No matter how I try, I just don’t feel worthy. Which is one reason John 3:16 has so much meaning to me.
I sadly admit I have made some bad choices in my life. There were family and friends that tried to encourage me, but they just couldn’t reach me. I was lost once I graduated from high school. In high school, I played basketball, softball and ran track. I played in the pep band, marching band and concert band. I had a lot of people that thought they knew me. I was excepted at Ohio State early my senior year in high school. It wasn’t enough. College was tough and life became really hard. I turned to alcohol.
Fear had a tight grip on me. Family still encouraged me. Friends and Family tried to get me to turn to God. But I had lost sight of Him. That is until I turned 26 and almost died. That is when God started to work on me. However, He really didn’t get my attention until I got picked up for a DUI. My one and only. When a couple, outsiders to my family, and people I greatly respect, picked me up in jail the night of the DUI and saw me at my worst, I knew I needed to change. I was 32 years old. The change has been ongoing for seven years. I still work hard at becoming a better person every day.
Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them and said unto them, With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
As stated earlier, I have battled low self esteem and depression most of my life. Things have gotten lower than low for me at times. However, a woman that has touched many lives kept after me with patience, education and understanding. One thing she has kept repeating is With God All Things Are Possible. With my family, a group of special people at a peer center I worked with and The Fearless One, I quit drinking seven years ago. I have since self published a Christian skit book, been an adult skit director at a Methodist church,a junior church helper, a writer for Associated Content, a substitute teacher, a youth group helper, and a Sunday School co-teacher . Indeed, With God, All Things Are Possible.
1 Corinthians 4-13 Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude. It is not self seeking. It is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but REJOICES with the TRUTH. It always protects. Always trusts. Always HOPES. Always perserveres. Love never fails and Now these three Remain Faith, Hope and Love but the greatest of these is LOVE.
These are such powerful scriptures, I’m not sure where to start. However, I will share this with Associated Content…I was most touched by these scriptures at a wedding five years ago. It happened when one nine year old, a young man, stood in front of the church and read these scriptures as a part of his mom’s wedding ceremony. This memory will never leave me.
1 Corinthians 1:3 Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ
My great, great, great aunt and my grandma were great representatives of this scripture for me.
Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
As a recovered alcoholic and a physically handicapped person this scripture speaks volumes to me. While working for a mental health agency for ten years, I believe I saw this scripture on a daily basis with the eyes of a true Christian.
The Bible was written to touch individuals. God definitely had a purpose when He choose his disciples to write His Word. In my opinion, the Bible and the scriptures are the most powerful words written. With this written may people on earth learn to give respect, dignity, but most of all Love. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
