The Big Brother 12 season finale aired on September 15. This Big Brother 12 season finale was two hours, and the episode recap includes which of the final two contestants will take home the $500,000 grand prize. Coming into the episode there were still three people left in the house, all members of an alliance that was created on day two of the season. Those final three were Lane, Enzo, and Hayden, all members of the Brigade alliance that had made it all the way to the end. Which one of these three would actually win the grand prize was set to be determined on the Big Brother 12 season finale, as they still had to finish up the final Head of Household competition to decide who would get to choose one of the other two guys to join him.
We will be updating this article as the Big Brother 12 season finale progresses, and by the end of the night, we will know who wins the first place prize of $500,000, the second place prize of $50,000, and the $25,000 prize for getting selected as America’s favorite player of the season. The winner of the season will be decided by a vote of the seven jury members, all houseguests that were voted out in recent weeks. Some of those jury members are quite unhappy that they were sent out of the house, but some of them also really like the final three that are left in the house. One of those final three will also have become a jury member by the end of the Big Brother 12 season finale.
Big Brother 12 Season Finale Recap
The final three guys gave one last handshake on day 69 in the house, stating that they would now all be working on their own to try and make it into the final two. Part 3 of the final Head of Household competition was set up to be Hayden vs. Lane, after Hayden won Part 1 and Lane won Part 2. The winner of that final Head of Household challenge would then get to pick the person sitting beside them in the vote for $500,000.
Each one of the three guys privately stressed over what the other guys were thinking about on their own, and they all seemed to be worried that they would become the odd man out of the threesome. Host Julie Chen talked with the three of them as the live part (for the East Coast) started to be displayed for the studio audience. It also set the stage for the emotions that the final three were going through at that point.
Big Brother 12 Jury House Footage
More footage from the Big Brother 12 Jury House was revealed, first with Ragan talking about how he still wanted to be friends with Matt, and then into the new person joining the Jury House. While the people in the house discussed it, Britney walked into the house, wearing a shirt that said “Bra-Gade” on it. The revelation came quickly from Britney that the Brigade alliance had existed in the house, and the other four jury members were very surprised about what was going on. This made Ragan upset with Matt once again.
Matt first stated that the Brigade was his idea, and then he revealed to Britney that he had lied about his wife being sick. The discussion of who the saboteur in the house came up, but again Ragan pretended he didn’t know anything about it.
Big Brother 12 Final Three Debate
The six jurors had to sit down and discuss the final three contestants, going over how the season went, and which one of them deserved to win the money. Matt wanted to know if anyone thought Enzo should win it, and surprisingly a lot of juror members actually still supported Enzo’s game. They discussed Hayden after that, with Rachel stating that he never made a move on his own, and Kathy and Matt arguing that he played the game brilliantly. When Lane was brought up, Rachel said she liked him, while Ragan didn’t, and of course it was Britney that gave Lane the biggest vote of support.
Big Brother 12 Final Head of Household Challenge
Part 3 of the Head of Household competition was held live (for the East Coast), and involved Lane and Hayden guessing answers to questions asked of the jury members. The questions included things like Rachel getting asked what her favorite moment in the house was. It was an either/or competition, so they simply answered A or B to each. The winner was the one who guessed the most correct answers in the series of questions.
Both Hayden and Lane got the first two questions right. They also both got the next two questions right to tie it at four apiece. They then both missed question five to keep the tie going. They also missed question six, taking it to a tie-breaker to decide the final Head of Household winner. The question was how many times did Big Brother slam them into the walls during Part 1 of the Head of Household competition.
Lane guessed 55 and Hayden guessed 91, with the answer being 250. Hayden thusly won the final Head of Household competition, and an automatic spot in the final two.
Big Brother 12 Final Two Selection
After winning Part 3 of the Head of Household competition, Hayden then had to choose which houseguest was going with him to the final two, and which one would be joining the jury house. Hayden got to hear speeches from each of the guys as to why he should take them into the final two before he made his eviction vote.
Hayden chose to evict Enzo, and send him to the Big Brother 12 Jury House. That meant Hayden and Lane would be competing for the votes of the jury and the $500,000 prize.
Big Brother 12 Jury Takes the Stage
As the second hour of the Big Brother 12 season finale got started, they brought out the jury in front of the studio audience in order to get their thoughts on what had taken place up to this point. The topic that people were wondering that Britney would be asked about was her house burning down. Before they got to the questions the would be answering though, they got to ask their own questions of the final two players to decide who they were going to vote for to win the $500,000 prize. None of the questions were very tough, but some of the jury members (Rachel, Enzo, and Ragan) did not enjoy even being there it appeared.
Big Brother 12 Jury Vote
Before playing their votes, the jury got to hear closing statements from the final two contestants, and then they went up to the box one by one to place their vote for the $500,000 winner. Each voter was also allowed to give a quick statement about what they were thinking about when voting, and what led them to their ultimate decision. Before they actually revealed who won the prize though, CBS had to toss in the expected fillers, beginning with bringing back the four players that didn’t even make it to the Jury House (Monet, Annie, Andrew, and Kristen).
One of things that was revealed were the lies Hayden and Kristen had told about not getting involved in a “showmance.” Andrew also revealed Matt’s lie to Enzo, Hayden, and Lane, where Matt had stated that his wife was sick, when she is perfectly healthy. The three other Brigade members were extremely shocked by what Matt had done. Matt stated that he had no remorse for telling the lie.
Rachel also announced that she will probably move to UCLA to be with Brendon after the show, and Britney still had to interject her opinions and snideness into the situation. Then they finally got to the identity of the second saboteur, which was revealed to (obviously) be Ragan, who won $20,000 for taking on the role.
The winner of the $25,000 as America’s Favorite Player this season was Britney, adding it to the $10,000 she won in a luxury competition earlier in the season.
Big Brother 12 Winner Announcement
Host Julie Chen took the key box to pull out the seven keys and reveal who had received the most votes from the jury. The winner was of course the first one to receive four votes, and it was Rachel’s vote revealed first. Rachel had voted for Lane. Kathy voted for Hayden, Matt voted for Hayden, Brendon voted for Lane, and Ragan voted for Hayden. Britney voted for Lane to tie the votes, leaving it up to Enzo to choose the winner. Enzo made Hayden the Big Brother 12 winner.
