Tokyo Game Show, or TGS, is the biggest video game trade show in Japan. For those who aren’t familiar with it, it can be considered the Japanese equivalent to North America’s E3 or Europe’s Gamescom. The following were the biggest announcements at Tokyo Game Show 2010.
10) More Marvel vs Capcom 3 Characters Revealed

Capcom revealed that Spider-man, Wesker, and X-23 are now a part of the Marvel vs Capcom 3 roster.
9) The Last Guardian Dated

The Last Guardian is the newest title from Team ICO, the team behind the classic PS2 titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. The Last Guardian was finally given a release window for Holiday 2011. Normally anything related to The Last Guardian would count as a huge announcement at TGS, but just a release window isn’t too new and exciting.
8) Valkyria Chronicles 3 Announced
The next sequel in the Valkyria Chronicles series was announced at TGS. It’ll be coming out early next year in Japan, so the hope is that we’ll see it in North American by the end of 2011.
7) Dead Rising 2: Case West Announced for Xbox 360

Dead Rising 2 hasn’t even been released yet, but Capcom announced an epilogue to the game exclusive to Xbox 360. In the epilogue, you’ll be able to play as the Dead Rising 2 protagonist Chuck Greene and the original Dead Rising star Frank West.
6) Steel Battalion Remake for Kinect Announced
For those who aren’t aware, Steel Battalion was originally an Xbox game released in 2002. It was a first person tank shooter. However, what made the game so unique was the controller created for the title. It was gigantic controller with two joysticks and over 40 buttons. You can see an example of the game being played here (YouTube). Capcom has announced a remake for the Kinect. Details on how the game will be controlled via Kinect are yet to be announced, but it should be interesting.
5) Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy Announced

Dissidia: Final Fantasy was a fanboys dream, as Square-Enix put everyone’s favorite Final Fantasy into a fun fighting game. Dissidia Duodecim is the follow up, and they’ve already shown that Kain from Final Fantasy IV and Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII will be the joining the roster.
4) Ninja Gaiden 3 Announced
Team Ninja announced that Ninja Gaiden 3 is now in development. Systems for the game weren’t revealed. Normally this might grab more attention and be higher on the list. However, Team Ninja decided to announce this game with very little fanfare. No trailer was released or screenshots of the game. Only the above CG image was released.
3) Ico & Shadow of the Colossus PS3 Remake Revealed
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are two of the most critically acclaimed games on the PS2. Both were heralded for their breakthroughs with graphics, story telling, and gameplay. Many consider them to be amongst the video game genre’s best works of art. For those who haven’t played them, they should strongly consider looking at the HD remakes on the PS3. It’s scheduled for release in early 2011.
2) Shadows of the DAMNED Announced
A new game collaboration between the folks behind Resident Evil and No More Heroes was first announced in 2008. Two years later, we now have a title to the game and a trailer. From the trailer, it appears the game is an over the top, at times pop-culture mocking, third person horror-shooter. In other words, it’s about what you would expect from the creative minds behind Resident Evil and No More Heroes. By the way, yes, the DAMNED is all capitalized.
1) Devil May Cry Reboot DMC Announced
There had been hints at a reboot of the Devil May Cry franchise, and it was finally announced in full glory with the above trailer. The game, simply called DMC, features a new emo-like Dante. The trailer above also has hints towards new gameplay mechanics, new graphic style, and a possible new background story for Dante.
