Bill O’Reilly is rather upset about a recent photo shoot featuring Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian, according to Us magazine. His complaint? That ‘The Graduate’ themed photo shoot featuring Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian frolicking at the beach and looking fashionable is inappropriate. So is Bill O’Reilly right (for once)?
I guess since such Bill O’Reilly got so much press for declaring some of Jennifer Aniston’s comments destructive to society, he thought he would try out another celebrity jab to see if it landed him in the news yet again. Since it worked, I guess we’ll see the FOX talk show host start taking on celebrity after celebrity and leaving the political stuff to Glenn Beck from now on (God isn’t providing Bill O’Reilly with a plan for America, after all).
But what exactly about the Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber photos has Bill O’Reilly so upset? Well, he’s disgusted that the photos are based on the movie ‘The Graduate’ and that they feature an underage Justin Bieber with a much-older Kim Kardashian. He claims that he was interested in baseball as a 16-year-old, not “sexy older women”. That may be so, but is Bill O’Reilly right to be disturbed here?
Well, unfortunately for him, I doubt many Justin Bieber fans know what ‘The Graduate’ is about and will fail to see why they should be upset with the photos (most of them don’t want to see Justin Bieber take photos with girls of any age). And of course none of them have a clue who Bill O’Reilly is unless their parents are hogging the TV to watch his show. That being said, I will have to begrudgingly admit that Bill O’Reilly is kind of right here, even if teens don’t get his message that it’s not a good idea to be super-obsessed with older women (just look at all the teachers and teens getting into trouble nowadays).
The movie ‘The Graduate’ is about a younger man having an affair with an older woman, but Dustin Hoffman’s character in the movie is of legal age. So claiming “it’s been done before” doesn’t exactly fly here. Plus Bill O’Reilly amazingly has a good point: had this been an underage girl posing in photos with an older man based on the story of such an affair (think Miley Cyrus and Spencer Pratt), there would be a huge uproar over the shoot. But I guess if that kind of creepy SNL thing with student Justin Bieber and teacher Tina Fey was okay, nothing will become of Bill O’Reilly’s outrage.
I will give Bill O’Reilly this: going after Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian was a pretty brilliant move. Sure both have legions of fans, but there are also legions of others who can’t stand reality show stars or teen pop idols (as evidenced by the Justin Bieber attacks so often orchestrated by 4chan). However, I also have a feeling that most of them despite Bill O’Reilly.
Oh well. Nice try, Bill, and I’m sure you’ll love this news: Justin Bieber apparently has a screenplay in the works, according to TMZ. So is he going to be doing an updated version of ‘The Graduate’? Let’s just hope he waits a few years before going there, for the sake of Bill O’Reilly’s heart and those of Justin Bieber’s millions of fans.
