Whether or not one likes Bill O’Reilly or what he says is not what matters when it comes to hosting duties as Mamma Bear Barbara Walters seems to infer to her cub co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar. After O’Reilly said that “Muslims killed us on 9/11”, Goldberg and Behar walked off the stage of ‘The View’ last Thursday obviously displeased with their outspoken guest’s comments.

Barbara Walters, however, is at the helm of that show and spoke of her dissatisfaction to fellow co-hosts today, stating, “This is a country that’s full of rage… We must be able to have conversations – that means all of us – without fury, without rage, without screaming, without obscenities, without walking off.”
Walters also said, “It’s very dramatic. People love train wrecks. People want us to do more of it because it’s good for the ratings.”
Whoopi and Behar had told USA Today last week that they walked off the stage after O’Reilly’s comments because they thought he was showing bigotry.
The legendary and wise Ms. Walters advised her co-hosts today however stating, “You don’t walk out of your own home. … We are used to Bill O’Reilly. He loves this. He loves to pull your chain. He loves to get you angry. This is just what he wanted. … I don’t have to tell you the regard I have for you,” she added, “… having said that, I think it was the wrong thing to do.”
