The election season has been overwhelmed by talk about the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, but in Birmingham there is an election in November that will have a much more immediate local impact.
The Board of Education this November will vote to fill two of its all-important seats. Incumbents Steve Scheidt and Susan Hill are asking Birmingham voters to re-elect them each to another term on the Board.
The Board of Education is responsible for setting and overseeing school policy, managing the school district’s budget, and hiring. As such, anyone elected to the Board will be determining how the Birmingham Public Schools do their job.
