Birmingham residents are urged to seek alternate routes during an ambitious, though brief, repaving project. The project, which kicks off on October 8, will effect the following road segments: Adams Road, from the Railroad Bridge to Madison; Maple Road, from Pierce to Southfield; Pierce Street, from Lincoln to Brown; Oakland Avenue, from Worth to Woodward and Poppleton Street, from Oakland to Knox.
One lane of traffic in each direction on Maple and Adams Roads will remain open during the repaving project. Pierce Street, Oakland Avenue and Poppleton Street will be closed throughout its duration. Local traffic may be permitted through on a case-by-case basis, depending on the current phase of the project. Metered parking on Maple Road will be closed throughout the repaving work. Businesses along these streets will be open.
