Wilsonville, Ore. — Missing Kyron Horman’s 8th birthday celebration at Family Fun Center and Bullwinkle’s Restaurant had a great turnout for a bittersweet party and fundraiser. Kyron, who is now 8-years-old as of Sept. 9, has been missing for over three months after he mysteriously disappeared June 4 from Skyline Elementary School. Since that time, many fundraisers have been organized in obtaining funds for the ongoing search into the boy’s disappearance.
Facebook Co-Founders Recognized for Missing Kyron Horman Page
Co-Founders of Missing Kyron Horman Facebook were recognized as a big part of pulling off this event in Wilsonville. The Facebook page is nearing 80,000 visitors and has largely been responsible for the latest news in the missing boy’s case and also significant fundraisers.
I spoke with Carol Knowlton, one of the Facebook co-founders, to express my sincere appreciation for all she has done. She had been involved in interviews for most of the day, besides organizing the birthday celebration at Bullwinkle’s. Knowlton was clearly moved by the efforts put in by supporters.
Press Coverage Abundant During Kyron’s 8th Birthday Celebration
Cameras and news crews filled the room as Kyron’s parents, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, managed to smile for guests who attended their son’s birthday party. Desiree, the boy’s birth mother, tearfully commented that she just doesn’t understand how someone so evil could keep Kyron from his own birthday party.
Something we all have a problem digesting, that’s for sure.
A Bittersweet Event of Red and Green Theme
Tables filled one of the party rooms with red table clothes and presents for Kyron as you walked in the door. In the middle of one table was a beautiful chocolate cake with red-eyed tree frogs on it. It’s a cake that will await Kyron’s return. His parents will freeze the cake until Kyron has a chance to enjoy it when he comes home.
A lot of hard work went into the cupcakes that sat on a large serving tray, in which the green frogs spelled out Kyron’s name so elegantly. Several sheet cakes also lined a long table, along with ice cream for the guests.
It was an event to attend for those who wanted to get out with the kids and support the search in finding Kyron. What made the birthday celebration so moving was seeing how many people love this little boy. He has touched so many hearts. The media are keeping their finger on the pulse of this investigation and the fundraising activities involved. It was a bittersweet party in which families came to play miniature golf, relax outside, or speed around in go-karts.
Oregon was bathed in sunlight during Kyron’s birthday party and fundraiser celebration. May this wonderful little boy come home soon.
