If you’re in the Gainesville, Florida area, are preparing for Black Friday, and are specifically in search of the best deals on culinary gifts, I can point you in the right direction. Keep in mind that most of these things are supposed to be relatively hush-hush, and also there are some people who haven’t released or leaked their info yet, but I can disclose some of the places to shop this November 26th for your holidays which we know about so far.
The Oaks Mall
6419 Newberry Rd.
6 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Obviously, department stores always have lots of Black Friday deals. You can find all sorts of various kitchenware for your culinary gift recipient this season at Belk, Dillard’s, Macy’s, JC Penney’s, and Sears. In addition to the individual hunting around you can do at these stores, The Oaks offers an additional steal– spend $100 the morning of Black Friday between the hours of 6 a.m and 12 noon at the mall and receive a $10 Shop Etc. Gift Card.
Deal to watch: Macy’s has a 12-piece pots and pans set that usually goes for $99.99, but will be marked down to $28.99.
The catch? If you want the $10 gift card, you have to go to the Merrier Shopping Redemption Zone in the Dillard’s Court and prove it with your receipts, and it’s only while supplies last. Also, you have to be at least 17 years old, and they only give one per person– so don’t overspend just to get multiple cards. That won’t work.
Lowe’s Home Improvement
3500 SW Archer Rd., or 2564 NW 13th St.
(352) 376-9900 or (352) 367-8900 (respectively)
Stores open at 6 a.m.
Lots of steals and deals at Lowe’s, whether culinary or not, are sure to be found.
Deal to watch: Char-Griller Duo Gas and Charcoal Grill (3-burner, black) will be going for $199. That’s $100 off the usual price. Great deal for the grillmaster (or wannabe grillmaster) in your life.
The catch? Not really one, but you may find the other deals less exceptional, and fewer culinary items of choice.
3501 SW Archer Rd.
3 a.m. to 1 p.m.
While you’re in the neighborhood, why not head right next door to Kohl’s– one of my absolute favorites. Not only do they distribute Kohl’s cash, which is good for $10 for each $50 you spend, but their deals year round as well as what they carry are so awesome that you know it only gets better with Black Friday deal insanity tacked on to it. The Early Bird Deal means 40-70% off kitchen electrics after a $10 mail-in rebate.
Deal to watch: Way too many to name, but one lower priced example is the Bella Kitchen 12 inch nonstick electric skillet. Usually this goes for $50, but you can get it on Black Friday for $12.99. It’s got a glass lid and is dishwasher safe.
The catch? Could be a good thing and a bad thing– it opens at 3 a.m.?!?! Hello! Go to bed early on Thanksgiving night.
Those are a few of your leaked Black Friday best options for the Gainesville, Florida area when shopping for that culinary gift lover in your life. I hope you’ve found this helpful and please remember the spirit of the holidays– try not to be too brutal when you brave the crazy crowds that Friday morning.
