We all like to save money, especially around the holidays. That is why I have become one of the biggest coupon clippers for the holiday season. I tend to find out what store will match competitor ad prices, and what they restrict. Many places that offer competitor price matching will not allow percentage based discount coupons. They will tend to accept price based coupons, though. Once I have a list of stores that accept competitor pricing, I will visit those stores about a week before Black Friday. This allows me to have a general plan of action for Black Friday and to make sure that store carries each of the items that I am wanting to get.
Thanksgiving night, I make lunches and snack packs. Then I nap until 11:00 pm. I get up and get ready for the busy day ahead. I leave the house around midnight to head to my first store, with store fliers and manufacturer coupons in hand. I will reach the first store at around 1:00 am. This puts me in the front of the line. If you wait past 1:00 am to leave your home, you will most likely have the stores telling you that they ran out of top-named items, by the time you make it inside to make your purchases.
Inside the store, I shop in a circular pattern. This will have me back at the register as soon as I grab the last item on the list. This also helps a lot to be able to get everything you need in a way that you are not having to back track for any items.
If you have your children with you, make sure that there is enough extra time for restroom breaks. I say that, because children have the worst timing for needing to use a restroom. In between stores, stop for a short restroom/ snack break for the little ones.
When you go to cash out, make sure that you have all the fliers and coupons ready for the cashier. Also let her know immediately if you need to do a price match on items in the cart, because she may have to call a manager to the register to do the price math for you.
Once you have finished shopping, treat yourself and the little ones to a play date at your local park. This will give you both a happy ending to a busy shopping day.
Have A Happy and Safe Holiday Season.
