I became interested in studying the history of our nation several years ago. When I read about the book, The Federalist Papers, I immediately searched for it on the Internet. The original text was difficult to read so I opted for a modern language version of the book.
The book I own is:
“The Federalist Papers In Modern Language”
Indexed for Today’s Political Issues
Edited by Mary E Webster
Published by Merril Press
The Federalist Papers is an indispensable book of anyone who is interested in the roots of our nation. It explains the intent and reasoning of our founders with regard to articles and sections of the US Constitution. It was written and published by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay in an effort to persuade the states to ratify our US Constitution. Each paper focuses on a specific topic and defends the relevant section, article or paragraph of the US Constitution by countering attacks against the Constitution by anti-Federalists. I always reference the Federalist Papers, the US Constitution and US history for questions regarding today’s issues.
This book begins with the preamble to the US Constitution and the original US Constitution. It contains references to the Federalist Papers number that address each paragraph.
The book is easy to read and understand. As you read the book, you will find many references to specific sections or paragraphs of the Articles of Confederation and the US Constitution. In the back of the book you will find a glossary, the Articles of Confederation, a bibliography and an index. The glossary contains the definitions of various words used in the original text.
The Federalist paper number is listed at the top of each page, making it easy to find the one you are interested in. The actual page number is listed at the bottom of each page. The editor’s text and the quotes from the original Federalist Papers are clearly defined.
