The Brevard Zoo showcases a wealth of animals through five different fun and educational exhibits.
The Expedition Africa Exhibit features:
African Rock Python – One of the world’s largest non-venomous snakes and is classified as a python.
African Spur Thighed Tortoise – This Tortoise species ranks as the third largest in the world.
Black and White Ruffed Lemur – These animals can live up to 35 years and are only found naturally in Madagascar.
The La Selva Exhibit features:
Capybara – The largest rodent in the world
Pygmy Marmoset – The worlds smallest tree climbing monkeys.
Red-foot Tortoise – The average adult male size is 13.25 inches.
Squirrel Monkey – Proportionately they have the largest brain of all the primates.
Two-toed Sloth – Sloths are usually 12 to 15 pounds and 2 feet long.
The Austral/Asia Exhibit features:
Island Flying Fox – These are among the largest bats in the world and are commonly known as Fruit bats.
Kookaburra- Has a call that is similar to human laughter.
Krefft’s River Turtle
Lorikeets – Are physically equipped with specialized brush like tongues.
Muntjac- Are the world’s oldest known deer genus.
Red Kangaroo – This particular animal is the largest of all kangaroos.
The Wild Florida Exhibit features:
“Paws On” Play area and petting zone is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm.
