The soda jerks at the Carroll Gardens new(ish) Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain are being heralded by some in the media as ‘genius.’
The old-timey Henry Street soda joint attracts a bevy of children, from infant to adult (ourselves included), seeking to indulge themselves in a bubbly delight.
The problem is, many of the kiddies (ourselves included) can’t handle their egg creams.
When faced with the frothy, bubbly deliciousness of a Farmacy egg cream, whatever else is in our hands becomes expendable and ignored. It slips from our grasp and remains carelessly forgotten inside Brooklyn Farmacy.
To counteract this public irresponsibility and to reunite owners with their once beloved belongings, the folks at Brooklyn Farmacy came up with a significantly brilliant idea.
Instead of the regular window display, why not artfully display their collection of customers’ left and forgotten belongings-lost-and-found art if you will.
What better way to reunite a local passerby with their lost toy or camera?
The idea recently caught the attention of the editors at Racked NY who dubbed the unique storefront window “genius,” and “cute, but also practical.”
