As the days get shorter and the weather takes a turn for the bitter cold, Brooklyn Heights Synagogue Homeless Shelter will be opening its doors to provide warmth, food and beds for ten women, Monday to Thursday from November through April.
The women in the shelter have arrived from diverse circumstances, some are women with jobs escaping abusive partners, others have housing issues due to family breakdowns, illness or the loss of a job. They are transported to the shelter by CAMBDA, a non-profit organization that deals with domestic violence, housing issues, job skills and provides legal services, counselling and family support to more than 35,000 individuals and families.
If you are interested in volunteering for the shelter you can telephone (718) 522-3976 or email email@example.com. If you would like to help to support CAMBDA you can call them on (718) 287-2600 or visit their website at www.cambda.org.
