If you have ever seen the red and white striped tent at Smith and Union in Carroll gardens and thought to yourself “what the heck?” you are not alone. But you do admit ignorance to one of the coolest weekly markets in the city.
No, this isn’t a farmer’s market, not hardly. This is something far more interesting, far more artsy. It is a group of talented designers and artists offering their unique and exceptional wares for purchase, as well as ogling.
This hub of inspired creativity is called The Brooklyn Indie Market (BIM), and it sets up shop in Carroll Gardens every weekend from 11am to 7pm on Saturdays, and 11 to 6 on Sundays. Selling clothing, accessories and all kinds of random beautiful stuff, it is an experience you shouldn’t miss.
But the market is about so much more than just selling cool stuff. They also have fashion shows, parties, and other types of events. For instance, check out the Steampunk fashion show scheduled for October 24th in DUMBO. Showcasing “steam-powered fashion” of a “reinvisioned Victorian age,” you will feel as if you’ve walked back in time to an alternative reality that is so much more interesting than what really was.
Join the folks at BIM in this alternative reality and support the amazing talent of our borough.
