Brownies in a Jar are easy to make, are not that expensive, and makes great Christmas presents for people who love to bake. There are many different brownie recipes you can use for the Brownies in a Jar Christmas gifts. This is the one I use for my brownies. I also use smaller jars that are unique in shape, normally holds about three cups. So, if you are using larger jars, you may want to double the recipe. This recipe is for smaller jars, so adjust accordingly.
Ingredients to Place in the Jar:
Here are the ingredients you will need to add to the jar. Feel free to layer the ingredients or mix them all together. Either way will work just fine. When they empty the jar into the mixing bowl, it will all be mixed, so feel free to layer or mix it. Layering it gives it a more unique look. However, make sure you pack it because the least little bump will throw it all out of whack.
½ C of Sugar
½ C of Flour
¼ C of Cocoa (unsweetened)
½ tsp of Salt
½ tsp of Baking Powder
Pecans, Walnuts, Other Toppings are Optional
To Finish the Brownie Recipe:
These are the ingredients you will need to write on the tag. You can hand write a tag, or you can create a tag in a graphic program and print it from your computer.
2 ½ tbs of Butter (softened)
The cooking instructions will also need to be written on the tag or typed on the tag.
Preheat the oven to 350. Empty ingredients from the jar into a mixing bowl. Add the 1 egg and 2 ½ tbs of butter. Mix all together. Spray pan with some cooking spray and add brownie batter to the pan. Bake for about 30 minutes. Let the brownies completely cool and then cut into squares. Yields about 10 – 12 brownies.
To decorate your jar, you can do things like add ribbon, do stencil painting on the jar, cover the lid with fabric, create fancy tags for your jars, and so on.
