Sometimes there are not enough hours in the day, and making dinner consists of grabbing something easy from the freezer. Such was the case tonight, and our choice in dinners was Buitoni Riserva Braised Beef & Sausage Ravioli with Creamy Marinara Sauce.
The front of the box claims this is is a “complete meal” for two adults, but we like to add either a tossed green salad or some garlic bread along with the Buitoni Riserva Braised Beef & Sausage Ravioli with Creamy Marinara Sauce. Without those, I do not feel like this is a real complete meal.
Buitoni Riserva Braised Beef & Sausage Ravioli with Creamy Marinara Sauce comes in a large 24 ounce box, and contains large six sided ravioli pasta and a sauce packet. The box states that this dinner can be prepared in as little as five minutes. It also states that it is made with “All Natural Ingredients”.
Buitoni Riserva Braised Beef & Sausage Ravioli with Creamy Marinara Sauce is made using premium natural beef, sweet Italian Sausage, aged Parmesan and Mozzarella cheeses, and sweet carrots. The ravioli is topped with a creamy marinara sauce that is made from vine ripened tomatoes, light cream, and Parmesan cheese.
Preparation is done on the stove top, and consists of bringing four quarts of water to a boil, then cooking the frozen ravioli for five minutes. While the ravioli is cooking you should bring the pouch of marinara sauce to a roiling boil. When the ravioli is cooked to your liking, drain the pasta and top with the hot sauce.
I wasn’t prepared for this meal to taste a little bit on the spicy side, and I think it was the sweet Italian sausage that added the spice. It was a delicious meal, and my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The pasta swells during the boiling process, and they become quite large. We ate this meal in bowls, but it would have been easier to cut the ravioli had we eaten it on a plate.
One serving contains 590 calories and 19 grams of fat, so this is not a meal that I would want to eat very often. A serving also contains 9 grams of saturated fat,1 gram of trans fat, 120 milligrams of cholesterol, 1200 milligrams of sodium, 72 grams of carbohydrates, 5 grams of dietary fiber, 9 grams of sugars, and 33 grams of protein.
Buitoni makes six different “Artisan Quality Italian Meals”, including Shrimp & Lobster Ravioli, Four Cheese & Spinach Ravioli, Chicken & Mushroom Ravioli, Five Cheese Cannelloni, and Grilled Chicken & Spinach Cannelloni. These are tasty meals that add a touch of class and elegance to any meal, yet they can be prepared in as little as five minutes. I don’t really recommend this Buitoni Riserva Braised Beef & Sausage Ravioli with Creamy Marinara Sauce meal if you are on a low sodium diet, as the amount of sodium in this one serving is equal to fifty percent of your daily allowance of sodium.
