In the recent campaign for U.S. Senator from Delaware, evidence came out concerning Christine O’Donnell’s early religious history.
Rumors abounded that she might have been associated with a group of believers whose followers have performed bizarre rituals including animal sacrifice. This is a group which, using an ancient text, regularly performs incantations which attempt to appeal to supernatural intervention in order to bring about changes that they desire on earth, no matter how decadent. In addition, it is central to this group’s beliefs that one can commune with the living dead, they are excessively obsessed with sexuality, and they celebrate lavishly in late December.
But I will take a stand for her and declare that I am of the belief that all Americans should be able to worship as they choose. One’s religious affinity should not impact their viability as a candidate. Though I am not one myself, I have absolutely no problem with Christine O’Donnell being a Christian.
