Back in 2007 I walked onto a car lot and drove home in my first ever brand new car. I remember the feeling of pride as I had never owned a brand new car. I also got the joy of a nice car payment to go along with it.
Flash forward to 2010, I had some major life changes and was no longer able to afford my car and unfortunately it was repossessed. I felt ashamed and yet a sense of relief came over me because I was no longer going to have that debt.
Knowing I would need a car and that my credit was shot caused me to think of creative ways that I could come up with the money for a car. I sprang into action and within the matter of a couple of months I was able to afford to buy a car and pay cash for it. These are the techniques that I used to get the money.
I used coupons for almost everything that I purchased. I added up the money that I saved on each trip and put it in a savings account. I took advantage of store reward and loyalty programs and that not only helped me save money but I also was able to get most items for free.
Selling unused items
I was able to get my house cleaned out and turned quite a bit of profit. I took advantage of Craigslist and posted everything that I no longer used or wanted. I found that people are willing to buy almost anything and the money quickly added up.
Earning extra money
I did anything and everything to earn extra money. I took online surveys and wrote a few articles for online content mills. This brought in some nice pocket change. I also searched Craigslist and picked up some one day jobs doing merchandising and other various things. I had alot of fun doing different things to earn money. I never turned down any offer of paid work.
After a couple of months I had saved enough money to buy a reasonably priced used car and even had enough left over to pay for my insurance a few months in advance. The car that I bought is safe and dependable. It may not be brand new, but there is no debt on it.
