Fremont High School in Sunnyvale will hold California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) retakes for English on November 9 and for Math on November 10. Students who are interested need to see FHS Assistant Principal Di Yim in the main office.
Those who need help can get CAHSEE tutoring from FHS’s Students for Success program. CAHSEE tutoring is available Monday through Thursday after school until 5 p.m. on during block seven. CAHSEE study guides are available for those who are interested and can be picked up from Yim in the main office.
CAHSEE is a test that, starting with the class of 2006, all public high school students are required to pass in, in addition to earning their high school credits, in order to earn their high school diploma. According to the California Department of Education (CDE), the goal of the CAHSEE is to make sure that students graduating from public schools in California have learned basic reading, writing, and math skills. The CAHSEE tests students on English-Language Arts and math.
All public high school students take the CAHSEE for the first time in 10th grade. Then they can retake the parts they did not pass twice in 11th grade and up to five times in 12th grade. They can only retake the parts they did not pass and the CDE determines which dates students across California, are permitted to take retakes.
