Part three of my Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare gun information articles. In this article, the specs and all important information of the light machine guns and shotguns in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare will be discussed. In-depth information such as recoil, damage, rate of fire, round clip and max ammunition along with other general and specific topics will be covered for all five light machine guns and shotguns. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare comes with three light machine guns and two shotguns, both classes are very small thus I will combine them into one single article.
Light Machine Guns:
In the single player campaign of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, the M249 SAW is utilized by the Special Air Service and the United States Marines. In online multiplayer, the M249 SAW is available when one unlocks the create-a-class feature at level 4. It has the fastest rate of fire of any Light Machine Gun, has low damage per bullet and has decent accuracy. Grip is recommended for the M249 SAW as it increases accuracy dramatically. It has a standard 100 bullet clip and maximum ammunition of 300 rounds.
Recoil is moderate without grip; with grip it’s very low. Provided the user has grip and steady aim, the M249 SAW becomes deadly accurate while hip firing even at medium to long distances. Generally, the best setup for a M249 SAW class is Grip, Double Tap and Steady Aim allowing the shooter to put down a mass of bullets down range in an extremely short period of time with unbelievable accuracy.
In single player, the RPD is used by the Ultranationalists and the Loyalists. In online multiplayer, the RPD is unlocked at the same time as the create-a-class feature which is level 4. Its magazine holds 100 bullets and the maximum ammunition is 300. The RPD has the slowest reloading time of all the guns in the game. With stopping power, it’s a 2 bullet kill unless it’s against a player with Juggernaut. It’s accurate with moderate recoil without grip, with grip it has low recoil even when firing full auto. Its rate of fire is comparable to most assault rifles, not the fastest nor the slowest. Its amazing power combined with great iron sights and low recoil makes the RPD one of the best guns in the game. The combination of high power, low recoil and large clip make it perfect for gunning down groups of enemies within seconds.
Its only appearance in single player happens during the end of the mission “Game Over”. In online multiplayer, the M60 is unlocked at level 19, brings a 100 bullet clip and maximum ammunition of 300. In close quarters, it brings the highest damage in the game, 2 bullets for a kill without stopping power being necessary. It has what is considered the worst iron sights in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, blocking the sight of what you are aiming at almost completely. It has high recoil and its not advised to use grip unless you can deal with the awful iron sights. It fires slower then the M249 SAW and the RPD. Its reload time is close to ten seconds putting the player in a vulnerable position when having to reload.
In single player, the W1200 is used by the Marines, the Opposing Force and the special Air Service. In online multiplayer, the W1200 is unlocked at level 2. It is a pump action shotgun, has a 7 round magazine size and can bring a maximum of 52 rounds. At close range it is one shot kill on any enemy. The grip is recommended to reduce the fairly high recoil. Double tap reduces the time between pumps while Steady Aim compacts the hip fire spray. From personally use, I have the best success with Grip, Juggernaut and Extreme Conditioning allowing me to take damage while making my way towards the enemy.
The M1014 is used by the Special Air Service and Ultranationalists in single player. In online multiplayer, the M1014 is unlocked at level 31, holds 4 shells in the magazine and has maximum ammunition of 40. It is semi-automatic, shooting as fast as you can click the trigger making it very affective at killing at close range. It has low recoil which is lowered even more by the grip attachment. Once red tiger is acquired for both shotguns, Gold camouflage becomes an option for the M1014. The M1014’s rather slow reload time along with small magazine capacity make sleight of hand extremely useful. Steady Aim helps at longer distances but its affect is useless at close quarters. From personal use, I found the M1014 to be best used with Grip, Sleight of Hand and Extreme Conditioning. This setup allows for quick killing in succession and allows the shooter to get from place to place rather quickly. Sleight of hands allows the user to reload the entire four bullet clip in just less than 2 seconds, making it very efficient.
