This is part two of my gun class articles for Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. This article will be providing in-depth information on the submachine guns in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Information such as recoil, damage, bullet penetration, rate of fire, bullet clip, level unlocked, and other specific information on the gun in game. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare has five different submachine guns, each with its own pros and cons which will be looked at here.
In single player, the MP5 submachine gun is used by the Special Air Service, the United States Marine Corp and the Ultranationalists. It can be found and used in many different missions during the campaign. It’s the starting submachine gun for the famous Mile High Club mission in the game’s epilogue. The MP5 is available to the user at level 1 in online multiplayer; it has a 30 round clip with max ammunition being 180 bullets when Bandolier is equipped. The MP5 is widely recognized as the most popular submachine gun because it is available right from the start, has great damage and amazing accuracy to go along with a rather fast rate of fire. It has an incredibly fast draw time, making it seem extremely fast and efficient. The gun is automatic and has moderate recoil.
The Skorpion is rarely available to the player in the campaign but it is possible to find it. The Ultranationalists and Loyalists use it in missions like “Safehouse” and “Mile High Club”. In Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare’s online multiplayer, the Skorpion is unlocked when you unlock the create-a-class feature at level 4. It has the highest close Quarter Combat damage of any submachine gun, only requiring 2 bullets to kill from close range. Anything outside of close range will require 4-5 bullets depending on stopping power or juggernaut. It has no visible recoil making it possible to kill enemies at long distances while shooting full auto. A great setup with the Skorpion is Bandolier, Sleight of Hand and Steady Aim, allowing you to rip off clip after clip with little time between reloads. The Iron Sights do not impede vision making them some of the best iron sights in the game.
In the single player campaign, the Mini-Uzi is used by the Ultranationalists. In online multiplayer, the Uzi is unlocked at level 13. It packs a 32 round clip with maximum ammunition at 192 rounds. The Mini-Uzi has a very fast rate of fire, does a small amount of damage per hit and has terrible range due to its high recoil. It’s highly recommended to use the Mini-Uzi in close quarters only as it is at a disadvantage at medium to long range. Equipping a silencer is recommended to remove the muzzle flash that impedes the shooters view when aiming down the sights. The Uzi can have golden camouflage when Red Tiger is obtained for all the submachine guns. Bandolier is suggested because the Uzi burns ammo quickly, firing over 15 bullets per second when in full auto.
In Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare’s single player, the AK-74u is used by the OpFor, Loyalists and Ultranationalists. In online multiplayer, it is unlocked at level 28, comes with a 30 round clip and maximum ammunition at 180 bullets. It’s got moderate recoil, slightly lower then the MP5 but more then the Skorpion. It’s got high damage and decent rate of fire. The one advantage that the AK-74u holds over the rest of the submachine guns is that it has equal bullet penetration to the assault rifles, causing more damage through multiple surfaces. In all aspects, the AK-74u is very similar to the MP5 when it comes to handling in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare’s online multiplayer.
In the single player campaign, the P90 is used solely by the ultranationalists. It is one of the better guns to pick up when trying to complete Mile High Club due to its large clip and high damage. In online multiplayer, the P90 submachine gun is unlocked at level 40 making it the last submachine gun that is available. With a 50 round clip and a max ammunition of 300 rounds, the P90 brings more ammo then any other submachine gun or assault rifle. It has low damage but with its fast rate of fire compensates for the low damage by allowing the shooter to put more shots downfield into the enemy. Recoil is low making the P90 deadly at all ranges. It’s the weakest at close range but has an advantage over all other submachine guns at medium and long range. P90 is often used with a silencer because with its high ammo count it makes for a great stealth gun.
These are the five different submachine guns available to players in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. All 5 have something that makes them good, each with its own set of pros and cons. Just like the assault rifles depicted in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, all five of the submachine guns have been used in conflict in the real world. If you want to improve your online game, check out each and everyone of these submachine guns as all 5 are great in online matches.
