When we were remodeling our master bedroom and bathroom, I found the perfect curtains for the two large windows in our bedroom area. These were found at JC Penney’s, and while they had the rod pocket at the top that allowed me to Shir the curtains onto the rod, the display at the Penney’s Home Store had the curtains displayed with clip rings.
My local Bed Bath & Beyond store has a large selection of clip rings, and I knew they were going to be a little bit cheaper than the clip rings at Penney’s, so that is where I headed. My curtain rod is a black decorative rod, with a 3/4 inch diameter. Bed Bath & Beyond had black clip rings that matched perfectly.
I purchased four packages of Cambria Gun Metal 2 1/2 inch Clip Rings, which retailed for $8.99 for a package of seven rings. These clip rings are plain, yet elegant. They consist of a round, continuous ring, made of a sturdy metal that is double-lacquered and hand-burnished with a gun metal finish.
Hanging down from the rings are sturdy clips, with claw like jaws that grip the fabric of my curtains. I have long, 84 inch curtains, and they are lined and heavy, but these Cambria Gun Metal 2 1/2 inch Clip Rings are up to the task! They are strong enough to hold the curtains firmly. The rings allow me to open and close my curtains easily, and they don’t seem to scratch my curtain rod when doing so.
The rings are on a swivel of sorts, so they move freely and allow my heavy curtains to drape nicely. To attach my clip rings I first found the center of the curtains and placed one clip ring there. Then I placed a clip ring at each end of the curtains, and measured evenly for spacing the remaining four clips. Two clips were placed between the end and center point, which ended up being about 8 1/4″ of space in between the rings.
As I close my curtains, the fabric folds easily, forming the look of draperies or grommet curtain panels. When I decide it is time to wash my curtains, I don’t have to mess with removing the curtain rod finials, lifting the curtain rod from its bracket, and removing the curtains. I only have to un-clip the rings from the curtains, and the hardware all remains in place. This is a much faster way to remove and replace curtains or draperies!
Cambria Gun Metal 2 1/2 inch Clip Rings are part of the MSG Marketing “Cambria Collection”. There are matching holdbacks, rods and finials also made by MSG Marketing, but these rings perfectly match the black colored curtain rods that I purchased at my local Lowe’s home improvement store. They help dress up my windows and give a nice finished look to my expensive curtains.
