Most women have tried many different brands of mascara, hoping to find just one, that will deliver like it says. But now Maybelline claims to have a mascara, that can replace the need for false eyelashes.
Does the new Falsies Mascara from Maybelline really work?
First I must say, that I love eyelashes and mascara’s, and I am always happy to try a new one. Obviously, most of them don’t do what they claim to, so we’ll see how this one turns out.
Right off the bat, I have to say this mascara has the most unique application brush I have even seen. It’s a flexible wand that is flat, or spoon-shaped on one side, and has bristles on the other. My first thoughts when I opened the tube and saw the brush, were “Yikes!” and how can you possibly use this brush to make your eyelashes look good. It’s a really funky brush, but I thought it was worth a try.
After I applied the first coat of Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara in very black, I noticed that my eyelashes looked a bit longer and more defined. Because I like to wear several coats of mascara, I tend to put them on thinner. So I let the first coat dry, and applied a second coat. After applying the second coat, my eyelashes definitely appeared fuller and little bit longer.
Unfortunately, “a bit” longer, just isn’t enough for me, so I went for round three.
After applying a third coat and letting it dry, my eyelashes looked great. They definitely appeared thicker, fuller, and longer. And when Maybelline says there is no gaps from any angle, they are right. The brush does allow you have thick, but uniform coverage with no clumping whatsoever.
The best part is, even after applying all of that mascara, my eyelashes were still soft. No thick, crunchy feeling. And it was easy to remove, with no lash loss.
I do have to disagree completely, when they say it can actually replace your false eyelashes. Not even close!
After being a makeup artist and a model, for many years, I have worn my fair share of false eyelashes, and have tried just about mascara on the market. On the runway, or during a photo shoot, there is no way this mascara would give you the effect of false eyelashes.
So all in all, I would have to say that this mascara is a good product for the price (only $7 at Ulta). It will definitely make your eyelashes appear fuller and longer. But if you are looking for a false eyelash look, you are better off using false lashes.
