Water is a magical substance. It is necessary for life, it is a universal solvent, and it freezes at a lower density than its liquid form. But what can it do for your weight loss goals? Water enhances metabolism, and most people don’t drink enough water every day. When you’re done reading this article, you’re going to see the benefits of having a glass of water every couple of hours throughout the day.
Water Enhances Metabolism
I know I said water enhances metabolism, but how does it do that? If you drink a glass of water in the morning, you’re going to have an improved digestive function throughout the day. This is because the water washes away the excess digestive fluids and such within your system, that have accumulated throughout the night. The other thing that drinking more water does for you is to make you feel full, so you don’t eat as much.
Why Most People Don’t Drink Enough Water
Most people just don’t understand the signals the body is sending them. They hear “I’m hungry”, when in actuality, the body was sending an “I’m thirsty” signal. This is because the body makes up for lack of water with the water it obtains from food. You’ve confused your body by telling it that when it’s thirsty, you need to eat, so it sends the “feed me” signal. This is bad, because water helps remove dangerous toxins in the body (didn’t I say it was a universal solvent?).
If that weren’t enough, try this on for size: When the body doesn’t get enough water, it stores the water that it does get, which causes massive bloating. Water also helps the liver do what it is meant to do, by allowing the kidneys to remove bodily wastes and toxins. When the kidneys are over-worked, the liver has to jump in and help, which prevents it from doing its job. I haven’t told you that job yet, care to take a guess?
The liver’s job is to burn the body’s fat stores. That’s right. By not drinking enough water, you’re not allowing your liver to burn the fat you’re complaining about.
So, what’s the moral of the story? Drink a glass of water every morning, before every meal and when your body says I’m hungry. This will make sure you eat less, and your body burns more fat, while also getting healthier. So get out there, and drink some water!
