As a mom, a camera is so important. I need it to take clear, sharp photos without fuss, I want it to start up fast, and take video. And for a decent price. And this camera has it all! This thing takes a beating and comes back running! The Canon Power-shot S95 is an awesome little camera. It packs a huge punch for something that slips so easily in your pocket.
First off, its small. Carrying a diaper bag, a purse and whatever else Ive got in my arms, means the things i carry need to be small, compact, light weight, portable. And this camera is! It weighs 6 ounces. Which means it is so lightweight i don’t have to worry about it breaking anything, its small so it slips into a bottle pocket on my diaper bag or inside my smallest purse. This camera does not take up a lot of room in your bag. And we all know how crammed a woman’s bag gets!
Next up is the picture quality! I would expect quality like this from one of those big honking professional cameras. Not a small point and shoot, for the price this camera delivers amazing photos. And in some of the worst conditions. Its dark outside? No problem. In the house, eh nothing, dimly lit kids room taking pictures of them sleeping. Its got you covered. With an ISO that goes up to 3200 this camera is going to take amazing pictures in any lighting situation. Basically the ISO means how low a light your camera can go, so having a high number is a good thing. It means that it doesn’t need flash to go off all the time, and flash can make some pictures look really silly.
And can you believe this little baby has internal stabilization. That means that if your hands shake when you hold your camera like you are on a coffee binge, this camera wont show it! Perfect for Grammy who’s hands might not be as steady as they once were. Or great for all you soccer moms dedicated to sitting out in the cold rain while your kids play their game. You can still get great photos even though you are shaking like a leaf! And as an added bonus it tracks moving subjects. Jr might be tearing up the track but you will have no trouble picking him out of a crowd with your crisp clean images.
And for all your more technical camera lovers, you can even choose your own manual settings, something that isn’t often seen in a point and shoot. More reserved for those big pro cameras, you can now get some of those amazing features in your very own point and shoot. Feel like being creative. Set it to a manual setting and go, want the camera to take some control go back to the pre selected auto functions and take your shots, either way your photos will be awesome.
Now second only to great pictures is the video feature on a camera. If the video stinks, whats the point, half of a point and shoot cameras job is to take video isn’t it? This camera takes amazing videos in HD. The only downside to that is that it eats up your memory, so make sure you buy a ton of SD memory cards, they are so cheap you shouldn’t even think twice about grabbing a bunch, if your shooting video you will need it!
Now there is a lot of techno mambo jumbo all over the web over this camera. And lets face it, over every camera. And if you wanted to read all those specifications you can, and probably will, but if your reading my review, its obvious you are getting the straight up usage facts from one mom to another. It all boils down to a few key points. This camera takes awesome pictures. Low light or out in the bright sun. It takes fast pictures, so you aren’t going to get blurry pictures of your kids running around. It takes amazing video shots so you can remember those winning goals and their reaction to Grandma’s Christmas gift. This camera is compact and price friendly. So get it, you aren’t going to regret that decision.
