There has been a rash of vandalism around Prospect Park this past week. The Brooklyn Paper recently reported two straight days of broken windows on SUVs, trucks, and minivans along Prospect Park West.
The Paper reported that only minivans and sport utility vehicles appeared to be targeted by the criminals.
“This is not common in this neighborhood,” resident Mitch Delhyo told the Brooklyn Paper.
“They’re targeting a particular section of society,” said Jana Burns.
The Prospect Heights Patch also reported smashed windows in Prospect Heights. Saying that at least a dozen cars had their windows broken on Sterling Place, Park Place, and Bergen Street.
The Patch reported that the NYPD has no leads currently. But encouraged residents to report suspicious activity.
The Patch writes, “if you have any information about the incidents, call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS. You can also contact the community affairs officer for the 77th precinct at 718-735-0611.”
It certainly seems like the same group. Probably traveling up Prospect Park West and north towards Atlantic. Likely it is a group of thugs wielding baseball bats and riding in the backs of cars.
