It’s autumn and romance is in the air. I guess at least for me. Last October, I had the distinct pleasure of spending four pleasant days in Negril, Jamaica.
What continue to haunt my mind were the unique flavorful tastes of the Caribbean? What stood out the most, we the mouth tingling effect of curry dishes. Technically, growing up of Trinidadian decent, I’ve come to realize that my country tends to curry anything – from fish to even mangoes, which anyone can agree, is indeed a fruit.
But what is curry, without the taste bud punching spices, such as pimento seed or even the actual pimento pepper; which isn’t really a hot pepper at all, used merely for flavor! And even Turmeric, which adds kick to the pot. And what flavorful additions indeed!
I think I just made myself hungry and would kill for some curried potatoes and chick peas with some steamed vegetables and roti skin (doughy pita-bread type food), or even white rice. Hmm, the exotic tastes of the Caribbean!
