One thing which people can’t ever discount residents of Brooklyn about is being community-inactive. So many grassroots groups and so many charitable organizations keep the roots in this borough fresh and alive.
One such group in Carroll Gardens, The Brooklyn Community Foundation, recently celebrated the first anniversary of their Brooklyn Does Good awards. Brooklyn Does Good nominates local folks doing good deeds. From the blog firstandcourt (1) “Nominees have been submitted from the community, and the community gets to vote for ‘Brooklyn Do Gooders’ – up to five votes per day until voting closes October 15th.”
While the voting may already be over that doesn’t mean the celebration is. “Winners will be feted in a celebration on November 3rd and a $5000 grant will be made to the 501c3 charity of their choosing in their name.”
Some of the nominees have worked with great organizations in the past like Brooklyn Greenway Initiative, Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association, CORA Dance, and others.
